An actionist who ran naked across Red Square

An actionist who ran naked across Red Square disappeared, He was supposed to be taken to a mental hospital.

Ilya Kachaev, who had run across Red Square the day before naked, was not in Psychiatric Clinical Hospital No. 1 named after Alekseeva N.A., where, according to the lawyer, he was supposed to be taken. OVD-info writes about this with reference to Kachaev’s mother. The woman was told at the clinic that her son “was not there and was not there.”

Ilya Kachaev staged a performance on February 13 in the center of Moscow, which he called “The Dream of a Ridiculous Man” by analogy with the story of the same name by Dostoevsky. In the work of the writer, a downtrodden and disillusioned person in life ends up on the planet of open and healthy people. In his performance, Kachaev wanted to show the opposite situation – how an open and happy person finds himself in a country of downtrodden and disappointment.

“Russia is a country of shriveled people: people have to constantly shrink – in the subway, at work, and even at home,” the artist explained. With his naked appearance, he also wanted to show the opposition of man as a part of nature on the one hand and the state on the other.

Half a minute after the start of the performance, the actionist was caught up by five police officers – they threw him into the snow next to the Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed and detained him. In a police car, Kachaev was taken to the Kitay Gorod police station, from where, according to lawyer Yulia Sycheva, he was to be taken to a psychiatric clinic. The doctors considered that the actionist was in a state of psychosis.
