TOKYO: Police foiled an attempt to set fire to a bullet train and arrested a 69-year-old man.
According to a report by a foreign news agency, the incident of burning the bullet train took place in the southwestern area of ​​Shinkansen, where a senior citizen has been arrested.
Police say 69-year-old Kyushi Miyake Net tried to set fire to a bullet train from Hiroshima to Kagoshima but was unsuccessful and was arrested by police.
Police say the incident occurred at 8:40 a.m. as the train was passing through Kumamoto Prefecture.
According to media reports, all the passengers of the affected train were safe during the attempt to set the train on fire. However, due to the accident, the bullet train service was delayed for 50 minutes due to which 900 passengers were affected.
Police say the suspect saw a stabbing and arson attack on a Tokyo train and tried to copy the news.
